Possible Registration Issues: My Professional Experience

CAC has mandated all POS operators to register with the commission and obtain documents of registration.

The problem now is that CAC migrated to an AI powered portal a few months ago. This migration removed the flexibility of manually typing in the business description.

Before the upgrade, the correct specific nature of business operation was ”POS Agent Services”

However, with the scrapping off of the ability to manually edit the business description, it leaves a vacuum and a huge question regarding which category of business fits for POS operators.

It will not make sense to choose general contracts as a nature of business during CAC registration. That will require EFCC SCUML.

Same as it will not be proper to select other personal service actives as a business description as it does not expressly state what the business is into.

Other service actives can even mean illegal and criminal activities that go against CAMA since the activities are not expressly stated on documents.

Lastly, most POS businesses operates as SMEs. Not all of them can afford to register as a company.

So what’s the solution?

Unless CAC reverts to editing nature of business, otherwise this issue will linger for a long time and cause both POS operators and Consultants headache.
